Emotions can be a complicated, overwhelming pain in the ass. Why not knit them into a Voodoo Swatch, and set them aside?
SIZE
One size fits all.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Variable.
MATERIALS
* Mauch Chunky [100% wool; 120 yards per 3.5oz/100gm skein], at least 10 yards. (For weightier problems, more yarn will be required.) Or whichever yarn comes first to hand.
* Needles (any size)
* A thorny problem, weighty heart, or floating ball of rage.
GAUGE
Any.
DIRECTIONS
Cast on at least 10 stitches. Work your Voodoo Swatch in stockinette, garter stitch, or stitch pattern of your choice.
For each row, choose an aspect of the issue that you wish to knit into the Voodoo Swatch. For example, if you were to knit a demo swatch about “an orange,” you might assign one row to “The way that white stuff under your skin gets clogged under my fingernails whenever I try to peel you.” For the next row, you might choose “This is about the way you give me heartburn,” or “This is for how I wish you were seedless.”
(Some Voodoo Swatches will, of necessity, be longer than others.)
FINISHING
Cast off all stitches. As you break the yarn, think “The End.” Drop the Voodoo Swatch into a drawer and close the drawer firmly.
IMPORTANT: do not put the swatch into your pocket and carry it around with you. Nor should you attach the swatch to your sleeve for all to see. This defeats the purpose.

This is *so* bloody brilliant! I need to do this.
Also, I’m going to print this out for my psychiatrist!

What a great idea
But… what if the baggage I have is about knitting swatches? Should I knit a swatch to overcome my fear of swatching?
