Nesting success: third time’s the charm

I don’t know why, but every time I try a new pattern, I have to make it three times before it comes out right. This is true of everything from paid patterns to off-the-cuff attempts like these nests.

If you’ll recall, for the first one I knit, I put the stitches on four needles to decrease for the bottom, and it cupped. For the second one, I put the stitches on six needles to decrease for the bottom, and it ruffled.

For the third one, guess what happened? Yep, I put the stitches on five needles to decrease for the bottom, and it was just right.

Here is the same nest with an apple in it for scale.

I need to buy a fake bird that I can use as a prop for photos of my knitted bird nests. #KnitBloggerProblems
