The latest small-town drama

La Conner (pop. 891) loves an ongoing drama. The most recent bit of hotly-debated local politics is about sandwich boards on the sidewalk.

This newspaper article gives a good overview of the issue. (It even includes a nod to the drama-before-last: the loss of the town Code Enforcement Officer.)

However, I feel obliged to point out that when people refer to this crazy proliferation of sandwich boards… we’re talking about, like, ten or eleven of the things. Spread out over four blocks.

And yet, a lot of people are all, STOP THE MADNESS THIS HAS TO END.

(Reminder: you still have time left to enter the drawing to win free crochet-decorated river rocks.)

  • Well, it’s a slippery slope, ya know. First it’s sandwich boards, then it’s topless gogo dancers. Where will it all end?
