Sims Sunday: Moving On

Nostromo spends all her free time learning the drums while her dog watches.

sims sunday

Well, I don’t know if “watches” is the right word. “Stares piercingly.”

A little while back I was having lunch with a Sims-playing friend. I bemoaned my complete lack of interest in building houses and she was all “I NOTICED” and it’s true, I have very little patience for architecture-ish sorts of things.

sims sunday

She on the other hand spends most of her time building houses. (There is another contingent of players who spend most of their time creating Sims. Three completely different, and completely valid, methods of play. I love it!)

sims sunday

Long story short, she uploaded her latest creation to the Exchange, and I moved Nostromo and August in there together. Just look at that adorable bathroom.

If any of you have either homes or Sims to share, upload them to the Exchange and send me the link.

Winter had turned to spring by this time. Nostromo visited the fairgrounds and ordered lunch.

sims sunday

She chose onion rings, which she proceeded to eat with a fork. Which, yeah, okay…

sims sunday

But let’s get to drummin’! She had a wish to earn money by playing the drums for tips. Good luck with that, kid. I sent her to the central plaza where she played all night…

sims sunday

And well into the morning. But not a single tip was to be had.

sims sunday

While she chatted with a stranger at about half past noon, a deer bounded past. Because that is a totally normal thing that happens all the time.

The next day was Love Day (the game’s version of Valentine’s Day). Romantic interactions have a better chance of succeeding on Love Day, which is why I was stoked when Nostromo was invited to a house party.

She met a man with the unlikely name of Max Sparks. They hit it off right away.

sims sunday

They ended up making out in the bathroom.

sims sunday

He gave her a lovely bouquet of flowers.

sims sunday

Then he got super exhausted and had to go upstairs and go to bed, even though it was only about 8:15PM. But he looked so pitiful about it that I had to let him go.

sims sunday

When we got back home, I pulled the flowers out of Nostromo’s inventory and set them on the dining room table.

sims sunday

I discovered that Nostromo has the ability to repair broken objects with her crazy alien mental powers.

sims sunday

The next day, I had her invite Max Sparks over. He showed up wearing a t-shirt, riding pants, and hiking boots. And about two minutes after he showed up, he had to run off to some other pressing engagement. So that was a bust.

sims sunday

But mostly… it was all about the drumming.

sims sunday

It’s just as annoying as a real-world person practicing.

I do believe that is the best reaction face anyone could ever pull when receiving a bunch of flowers.

Where to even start?? the piercing stare? the lady watching them make out next to the toilet? the bizarre ‘gonna eat those flowers’ reaction? a fork? mind melding a dishwasher? RIDING PANTS and hiking boots?? esp on a man?? hahahahahahahahahahahaha

Just wait until she gets hitched and her spouse gets the “Woohoo with an alien” wish over and over again! It’s too funny!

How long do aliens live? Are you in for another long lifespan?

I am also thinking I have to stop playing on PS3 and get sims for my computer. There’s just so much more stuff! Is it hard to figure out folders, saving, crashes etc?

I too love the look on her face when she gets the flowers! Hilarious!

I love all three, although building and regular game play take precedence over creating new Sims for the most part, unless I’m overtaken by a burning desire to do something about all the boring townies in the game. I’ll take a Bunch over all the generic clones the Sim bin coughs up.

  • I can’t believe I let this pass me by! I hate making houses, too, though I painstakingly recreate clubs so my Sims can experience the night life.

That’s funny! It has never occurred to me to do more than a few basic changes to a public lot (like adding a fridge, or more lights). I can see the appeal, though!
