Miles and miles of stockinette. At each step, once I work out all the equations, it’s just knit knit knit and purl purl purl. Where does the time go?
People talk about being “stranded on Sleeve Island” or knitting into a black hole. But if you’re in the mood for something unchallenging, a big ol’ stockinette sweater is just the thing. Almost as good as a garter stitch color block scarf. (You have to do math for the sweater… but you have to make color decisions for the scarf. It’s a trade-off.)
I will be sad when it’s done, and I have to find something else to knit.
By the way. In this ultra-close-up picture you can see that the sleeve is suffering from my occasional problem with rowing out. This happens when the alternating rows (knit vs purl) are slightly different tension.
There are a ton of tricks to fix rowing out. But in my experience so far, blocking pretty much takes care of the problem.
