Last week I found myself with about an hour to kill, and a Starbucks nearby.
In the past I have mentioned pushing myself to do quick, expressive sketches because it’s so unlike what I usually draw. Well, this is what I usually draw.
It’s not quick, it’s not expressive, it’s unduly attentive to details no one cares about, and it never includes people. But damn, I do love drawing like this.
(I do wish that I had done a better job on the cabinets in the background. I did those last, and I was a bit rushed. I think the handles look like butts.)

I think it works. I like the informal, hand-drawn look. The detail looks find to me.
What you are drawing are still lifes (lives?). There is a long and cherished tradition of drawing still lifes (lives?). No need to apologize.
I love it when you do these kinds of drawings! My boyfriends dabbling in animation at the moment (just simple 2/3 minute youtube things), so after listening to all his whingings about doing the backgrounds i can really appreciate the glorious detail in these pictures
I think the handles are smiling at us! I like it.
But the handles of the cabinets in Starbucks DO look like butts, so you’re good, right?
I quite like it. Could work as an animation backdrop too.
Love the detail.
I think the handles just make the cabinets look sleepy. Very sleepy.
