I worked, and then I stacked firewood, and then I mowed the lawn (2 acres of cleared ground, takes about an hour with the riding mower), and then I went to the grocery store, and then I cracked open my desktop computer to clear out the dust and cat hair (the fan was working overtime). And now I am tired!
A first today: I saw a lizard. I didn’t even know we had those! We do, just one: the Northwest alligator lizard. Never seen one here before, but I will try to find it again to take pictures. Apparently they are very territorial and stay in the same area.
Another odd thing, which I present to you without comment. In the last week, six electronic devices have had their batteries suddenly drain and fail out of the blue. Two of them fatally for the device in question.
Strange days.

Well… Mercury *is* in retrograde right now. And we all know that Mercury hates batteries.
I suspect the lizard – using the devices when you weren’t looking. Check for reptilian pr0n sites and fly-catcher games…
I’m tired and I’m just reading about what you did. Can you knit and drive the mower with your elbows?
As for the lizard, he is pretty cute. We have a ton of them and they are always sneaking into the house. The one the other day was eyeing me from our kitchen faucet. He was totally trying to work the chrome thing as a disguise.
As for your batteries, maybe the humidity? That’s my excuse for everything down here.
Hi Erica,
First off, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading your blog!
I wanted to ask if you’d be interested in writing a post about North Light Fibers or doing a review of our yarn. We’re a small mill on Block Island that produces different blended yarns from exotic fibers such as alpaca, yak, bamboo, camel, and soy silk. We’re surrounded by alpacas, camels, yaks and other exotic friends (our mill is right in the middle of the animal farm) and we have a great store where we sell our yarns, needle felting kits, felted soaps, alpaca socks and other goods that are hand made, hand woven, and hand knit.
Would you be interested in doing a post about North Light Fibers? We can send you some additional information about us (literature material), or if you’d like, we can also send you some free samples for review. Just let me know what you’d be interested in!
Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you!
Nancy, North Light Fibers
My bluetooth mouse has suddenly and mysteriously stopped connecting with my computer twice in the past few days. Then it starts again for no apparent reason. The first time it was 12-15 hours, today it was just for a few seconds but repeatedly. Maybe the bluetooth in my 4-yo Mac Mini is dying? Mouse is only 6 months old. Crap.
humidity?
and ooo on the alligator mini!
