Finally had a day that was dry, but without someone doing yardwork outside to kick up all the dust. It’s tricky! (I finished taking pictures just as the yardwork dude showed up with his weed whacker.)
Some of the edges of the shawl/scarf/whatever are a little wobbly. And the whole thing smells unattractively of lanolin and dust. But it will have to wait a little bit longer for a good blocking, because this is Mildew Season. Not so cold that I fire up the wood stove, and not so warm that things dry out on their own.
I literally go through a bath towel every day, because it doesn’t dry a speck between one shower and the next. Trying to block knitting under these circumstances is just a recipe for frustration and heartbreak. (And mildew.)
Despite the fact that most of America is either literally or figuratively on fire, we are having a typical Pacific Northwest early summer: overcast and 65 degrees.
I’m so sorry. I feel bad even mentioning it. I really do feel lucky to live here, though. Clammy towels or not.
Art Shot!

98˚ here in n.w. Wisconsin. Yes, it sucks.
97 here and I have no air conditioning. So… hooraaaaay
But your shawl looks great! I’m knitting a lace shawl for our state fair and, uh, I’d better finish it soon if I’m going to get it entered in time.
tis a beaut!
GORGEOUS!
So that’s the trade off! I’d wondered.
Nice artsy shot. It looks almost as if its waving.
I’m starting one of these for a charity auction tonight!
I’ve been dying to make a beautiful rainbow shawl but yours was the one that finally broke me down. I’m getting around my self-imposed ban on buying new yarn because it’s for CHARITY, so I totally HAVE to get that Kauni I covet. Charity loophole works every time.
I absolutely love how subtly you blended the green from the edging into the blue. Lovely!
What does it look like when you wear it? It seems kinda small for a shawl.
It’s so muggy over here that I take at least 2 showers a day. Too hot even to go to the pool if you can believe that.
We’ve had 90+ temps even in Vermont. That is just so wrong…
Love how the colors worked out in the wedges! Should be a real eye-catcher at fair time!
It is just gorgeous. I hope the colors brighten up your overcast day.
93 here in North Florida with 97 humidity. The cool front dropped it from 107 with the heat index.
I may need to make a road trip to find cooler weather.
We’re not even going to talk about the weather. But the shawl looks pretty cool, and the photography is fantastic!
It is supposed to be in the 80′s this weekend in the Napavine Triangle, so maybe this weekend you can block it! It looks really pretty.
MAN, do I wish it was cloudy and 65 here… Enjoy!!!
Gorgeous. I really want to knit one of these.
I was surprised how easy it turned out to be! Short rows usually escape me – all that counting – but in this case you place a marker, and just move it three stitches each time. Totally mindless!
