Sims Sunday: The (Eventual) Birth of an Heir

This week I decided I had really had enough. It was getting ridiculous, all these births without the right genetics. It was time to start cheating.

First, using testingcheatsenabled true I started aging up newborns to toddlers, to check their genetics. Then I aged everyone up and moved them out of the house. (Actually I did this in batches, because every time you have someone move out, it makes everything sluggish for a little while.)

Second, I decided that if I hadn’t had a genetically-correct heir by then, that the 20th baby would be the heir, END OF STORY.

Let’s see how this worked out.

Welcome, baby girl #20, Coreopsis! You, my dear, are the new heir!

hahahaha maybe this would work if both parents had the necessary hair and eyes?
    ….
and then you would have to make a new sim spouse each time with them….

    yeah

    sigh

  • I get the whole challenge thing, but I *really* liked the kid with blue hair and blue eyes. Pretty! Could you make another one, and get a bunch of blue-on-blue Sims? Or, hrm, maybe that would be going over the line, since they’re simulated people. Huh.

I kinda did, too! Maybe I will recolor Coreopsis’ hair!

  • I can’t believe you went through 20 kids and didn’t get the right genes. I can upload my Violet Violet to the Exchange for you, if you want. She had her heir in 10.

You could have dyed the father’s hair to match, since hair dye is an inheritable trait in Sims 3.

  • Erika

True, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the original challenge. :-)

  • I liked Carlyle’s blue on blue, as well.
Are you going to try the challenge again with a new mommy? (Perhaps someone whose genes aren’t quite so flippin’ recessive…)

  • Erika

I haven’t yet decided…. I feel like I’ve had an entire challenge’s worth of babies already! I might go shopping for a new challenge. This one might have broken me.

I liked Coleslaw, too. I could just see you thinking, “Man, I’m getting sick of coming up with C names.”

  • I’m doing this challenge, too! Actually, I love reading your Sims Sunday posts and re-downloaded the game specifically for this brightly colored challenge. I got mine on baby #6, thank goodness, because my game tends to get stuck on the “Processing….” screen forever if I try to kick someone out, so I have to go out to Edit Town to move them around.

I also started them off at $0 so they were poor with lots of children and living off the land. But now those 5 older kids are grown up and can get jobs until Mr. Pink Hair Purple Eyes finds a wife – bonus!

    Now for the next generation…

So can Coreopsis (or any of the other “C” generation kids) still turn back into a doll like Butters?

  • Erika

Coreopsis can’t – I never tried it with the others – thankfully I guess that trait drops out after the first generation!
