How am I supposed to keep up with my Sims when people keep inviting me out to parties and giving me gifts and offering plates of delicious holiday food? HOW I ASK YOU HOW. Between holiday stuff, and all the extra errands in support of holiday stuff, I only had a few free hours this week.

I’m sure we can all relate!
I’ve sent Wilma back to France twice now, trying to catch the Glowy butterfly. It’s the last one I need to scratch the Butterfly collection off my list.

Although I’m more vexed by my inability to find a Trilobite beetle. Glowy butterflies are hard to find. Trilobite beetles are rated “common.” And yet, I remain Trilobite-less!
Speaking of beetles: as a companion piece to last week’s “My Favorite Sound Effect,” here is “My Least Favorite Sound Effect.” (You may have to turn up your volume to hear it.)
Euw, doesn’t it just send shivers up the back of your neck?
Back at home, Wilma had a wish to “Hire an Executive Butler.” I didn’t know they had those! I hired one straight away. He looks a little like Stephen Colbert.

No idea why he sat on the edge of the tub to read. But I support his decision to wear a monocle.
Two mornings in a row so far, he has awakened before the rest of the family and gone into the kitchen to make Key Lime Pie for breakfast.

BEST BUTLER EVER.

Bahahaha. Colbert making pie. Also, emphatic agreement re: the bug sound. I think when I play sims one or the other of my dogs is making enough racket that I don’t hear it, but similar stuff plays in whole zones of world of warcraft, where I usually have dorktacular headphones on, and my skin crawls. I’d be interested to hear how they recorded it actually, since I recall dimly a documentary on sound effects when I was little and seeing the warehouse where people whacked metal with sticks, ground their feet into trays of sand and stuck a mic up to it all. Also my ears always perk up when different games/companies/commercials are pulling from the same sound vault–I’ve heard the birdsong used in the forest in Quest for Glory I, for example, in two other (non-Sierra) games, plus a commercial about laundry detergent (that I guess smelled like a bird-filled forest?) and that movie where Chevy Chase is wandering around the woods with Tim Allen and their mutually estranged sons.
When he was in film school my boyfriend went into the university’s sound vault and there was just room after room of ipods dangling from pegs on walls, with labels like “bugs,” “wind,” “cash register” etc. I wonder if they recorded their sound effects in-house or bought the rights to one of these vaults to do the Sims effects.
Pie!
Good luck with the bug hunt. I think it’s starting to get to her, judging by her expression in that second picture…
Why is Wilma whacking at a pile of stones and thinking about food, or about eating, or about a man who’s eating, or about a picture of a man who’s eating?
My Butlers are always stupid, and make bad food (Like Pancakes) and brake my stuff! Drives me insane, plus their always girls too… and then they look weird in girl butler suits.
How weird! I got the exact opposite of your butlers, Aubree!
It’s the “I’m hungry” icon. She’s breaking rocks because I got bored of trying to catch beetles and made her investigate a tomb. Aren’t you glad you don’t have to wield a pickaxe?
I got one of my sims to make the butler (she’s a girl) his girlfriend.
Right after they whoohooed, she got up, and literally danced her way into the kitchen (wish I’d gotten video of it!) to make some hamburgers. It was hilarious!
I have to see if it happens again after they whoohoo again.
oh, and now she’s making all the beds…in her underwear.
OMG! She whoohooed again with my sim, and after she was done, she got up and danced her way into the next room to start picking up all the laundry…and she’s still doing the little dance!
Hilarious!!!
No WAY!!! I am so going to have to try that!
I kept making them whoohoo just because I thought it was funny to watch the female butler dance her way thru the housework…in her underwear.
I’m going to have to try this again with a male butler just to see how the male butlers dance.
It was kind of a “I got me *some* last night” kind of a dance. Like an “I’m really happy right now” strut.
I’m half tempted to have my sim marry her just to see if she still dances her way around while picking up laundry.
I moved another one of my sims out last night just because I was tired of that sim snoring all the time and waking up her husband. Moved her down the street and then sent the husband down to get her pregnant (again). They had triplets. The husband now has something like 30+ children. (and still only 5 grandkids…I dont understand that) One of his adult children is a vampire.
