    More Socks

I didn’t intend to start a new pair of socks this month. It just kind of… happened.

Honestly I don’t remember why. All I remember is that it was really important at the time that I cast on for another pair of socks.

    patons kroy socks

This yarn has garnered a lot of attention and compliments from fellow knitters. The barber pole color thing makes a beautiful tweedy long color repeat, shifting through various shades of blue. And the fabric is remarkably thick and plush, with a nice soft fizz.

They ask what yarn it is, and I produce the ball from inside my knitting pouch with a dramatic flourish.

Patons Kroy Socks FX! (#0911 Cascade Colors.) On sale for $3 a ball at Joann’s! Can you believe it? I can hardly believe it, and I’m the one knitting with it. (I gotta buy more of this stuff! NO WAIT STOP MUST RESIST.)

    • That IS nice yarn! If I didn’t live 75 miles from the nearest Joanne’s, and if I didn’t already have a big bin of sock yarn…

That is pretty yarn! For inexpensive yarn, Paton’s is pretty nice. I’m making a throw in Bohemian for a friend getting chemo – it’s SO SOFT.

What toe are you using? I have never been able to do toe-up, it’s like my fingers just flail around.

    • The yarn does give a lot of bang for a buck on the patterning.

I don’t tie in my ends, or barely weave them and so far, nothing has unraveled so don’t worry. Heck, half the time I leave a stitch unknit somewhere rows and rows back. (Which is maddening to discover, btw).

    • I’m knitting my first pair of socks with Patton’s Kroy/Croy, whatever.

Well, if I ever pick them up again, I’m knitting my first pair of socks. I might have been overly ambitious.

I like Patons Kroy – good for my basic sock knitting. That’s a nice colour too, have to watch out for it.

    • Love that sock! Hmmm… The nearest JoAnn’s is only 45 minutes away…

I’m working on a pair of Paton Kroy socks right now too. I don’t particularly like the feel of the yarn through my hands so I thought this pair was destined for Etsy. I finished the first one and tried it on – I could not believe how great it felt on my foot, especially since it was so harsh on my hands.

FYI: If Joanne’s is not convenient, Michael’s is caring this yarn too.

    • I love the colouring in that yarn! It’s been so long since I’ve picked up the needles; I need to get back to my socks. Nothing beats a pair of handknit socks.
