When I first started knitting socks, I gravitated towards incredibly bright sock yarn. The brighter the better. I guess I was feeling the effects of coming off a lifetime of socks that were either solid black, brown, or white.
I still like colorful sock yarn. But if I saw this skein at the yarn store today, I’d put it back. I mean, it is really really bright. You ready?
I know, right? Yowza. This is Opal Magic, color #1050.

Good enough to eat.
Yeah, when I look at sock yarn now I try to remember the colors of my wardrobe and make at least some attempt to coordinate. Orange and black looks great with pastels, right?
That IS bright!
I did the same thing–lots of color. The more colors, the better. Now I really like semi-solids and more muted color combinations, for the most part. Of course, I do like to mix it up a bit. I use the really wild yarn for my kids’ socks.
i really like it! you’ve gotta like what you spend so much time doing…

They’re not quite as bright as the socks Nancy Bush had that she said you could see from THE MOON.
Pretty! Cheerful.
