Ultra-conservative columnist George Will has really outdone himself this time. Here’s Will’s latest column, “Demon Denim.”

“[...]the plague of that ubiquitous fabric, which is symptomatic of deep disorders in the national psyche.”

Funniest conservative editorial ever! If you clipped off the masthead and byline, I would have sworn it was from The Onion. I can’t wait to see what happens the first time he encounters a pair of sweatpants in the wild.

  1. Yeah, stop wearing jeans if you’re not a poor manual laborer! How else will George Will know who to descriminate against?!

  2. Ugh, discriminate.

See, these people get me riled up.

  3. Just goes to remind everyone that old-school conservatives hate any kind of change and are very slow on the uptake. Jeans have been the standard for casual wear for what? Thirty years, minimum? And they’ve been creeping into the workplace for at least the past 20 years.

  4. I would never have read this without your link, thanks. I’m not sure what to think. It boggles the mind.

  5. Was this a reprint of a golden-oldie Wills column from the 60s? (Was he writing then?) Garry Trudeau was zinging conservative denim-haters in Doonesbury that long ago.
