Sims Sunday: Two Steps Forward…

I’ll just tell you up front, at the end of this week’s game time the game started glitching again, and I had to restore my files from backup again. So basically, nothing you see here ever actually happened. Sigh.

When I picked up the game, it was time for the boys to grow up.

Immediately after that, Quark got trapped by the sprinklers.

Instead of freeing him with the “resetsim” cheat, I decided to wait and see what happened.

He wasn’t able to sit, pick up or set anything down on the table I thoughtfully put next to him, read the newspaper, watch a television, or almost anything else. Here he is, being unable to read a newspaper.

I learned that he could eat fruit from his inventory. So I kept him alive for a Sim-week, by pulling fruit out of the fridge into his inventory, and commanding him to eat.

Typically when their Energy level gets drastically low, a Sim will just collapse on the ground (or face-first into whatever they’re eating) and get some ZZZs. However, Quimby wasn’t able to collapse! He was well and truly stuck.

This is what convinced me that it was really a glitch, and not a funny thing in the game. If it had been a real thing, Quimby would have died of exhaustion after a few days. (Technically when a Sim drowns in the pool, they die of exhaustion.)

A bit of levity on the march to death: I was finally able to get a Mysterious Mr. Gnome. This is a garden gnome that magically repositions itself when you’re not looking.

I found him peering into the swimming pool.

Waving at the house.

Examining the chess table with a great sense of satisfaction.

Watching television! (Mysterious Mr. Gnome turned on the television all by himself, too.)

And taunting Quimby by appearing to nap on the table beside him. (For his part, Quimby is talking to a friend on his cell phone – the only other thing he could do, aside from eat fruit, and complain loudly.)

Meanwhile, LaShawn kept painting in his floofy style.

Uh huh.

Mm hm.

OMG WTF????

  • I wonder what that strange object is in the pool. A ghostly slice from a mature tree? A slice from a very large ice cream roll? Mr. Gnome is certainly interested in it.

  • I love the samurai painting. one of my sims painted it a while back and has since turned out some really crazy stuff. also I love Mr. Gnome, he is always sleeping on various things in my game, the dresser, the dinning room table, counter top, nightstand, dresser again…

I’m just mean…my serial killer sim has claimed another (the second) victim…(nearly let his daughter starve in her crib while he was dancing next to the pool, luckily his Evil brother took care of the baby)

  • OMG do NOT make me LOL like that at midnight!!!!! My husband objects! That series of paintings is a scream!

  • Franz

I think the object in the pool is an underwater light on the side.

  • OMG WTF is right. I laughed outloud when I scrolled down.

Huge props to the folks at EA for going to the mattresses to spice up the paintings!

  • Erika

Franz is right, it’s a pool light!

I really love all the paintings they added to Sims 3. Back in Sims 2 it was so boring to have your Sims always paint the same paintings in the same order!

Dragon Samurai is definitely an outstanding work of art.

  • WHOA. That last painting is….what’s the world I’m looking for….?

    BITCHIN’.

  • Erika

Ahaha, yep, I think you nailed it!

  • So you didn’t really get a Mysterious Mr. Gnome?! Cruel world!
