Admin Updates and Socks

First, some administrative news. Something Exciting (for me) happens this Sunday. Several of you already know what’s coming up, and I’d be in for it if I didn’t post about it. On the other hand, Sunday has become enshrined as Sims Sunday. (I’m not really sure how that happened, by the way.)

My first reaction to the scheduling conflict was to say, “I’ll just have Sims Friday, and they can suck it. Wait until they see the pictures on Sunday – that will turn away any sadness.” (I do frequently decide that “It’s my blog and they can suck it,” by the way.) But so many of you have left comments that mention how much you anticipate reading the Sims Sunday posts at work on Monday. And if I have the power to make people anticipate anything about Monday, it behooves me to use that power wisely.

So here’s what I’m going to do: Sims Sunday will proceed as usual. However, I’ll be using my Twitter stream as a liveblog. You can either refresh this page a few times throughout the day and check the Twitter box on the right, or read my Twitter feed. (You don’t need a Twitter account to read a feed, by the way.) I suggest reading the actual Twitter feed page. The Twitter widget on the sidebar only shows five entries, and you may well miss something that rolls off the bottom before you see it.

There will be many pictures. I think you will like them.

This plan also frees me up from the computer. I have been anticipating this coming Sunday for at least three months now. Ever since the date was set a few weeks ago I’ve been telling people, “Sorry, we’ll have to reschedule. I have Sunday the 22nd booked for clapping my hands and squealing with glee.”

Excited? Intrigued? Yes well, you’ll just have to wait. I’ve been waiting for three months – I’m sure you all can survive the next four days! (I’m not pregnant, by the way. Just to head that rumor off at the pass.)

Hey look – knitting! This is how much I’ve been playing Sims 2 lately, and how quickly socks appear when you knit them with two strands at a time:

Last week, Kmkat asked how I keep track of all my Sims. I keep a handwritten genealogy in the spiral-bound notebook that is ever at my elbow.

Note my half-hearted attempt to track the genealogy of their pets, as well. Once per generation I end up accidentally killing the parrot, and have to re-stock the cage. (I never had a chance to write down the name of their womrat, which escapes me at the moment.)

I wondered why the African Grey turned into an Amazon. Thanks for clearing that up. BTW really like the socks.

  • You are going to DC to meet Barack and Michelle on Sunday! How lovely! Give them my regards.

I laughed when I saw your Sims genealogy chart. It is something I would do.

  • You are hosting a local cat show on Sunday! Enjoy, and make sure you bring a lint brush.

If I could get my Sims to survive more than one generation, I’d make a chart, too.

love the socks, very effective colouration going on.

do I dare ask what is a womrat? I love pets, but if it’s some kind of rat-like worm that’s too bizare for me!

You are all cracking me up with your speculations!

Northmoon – womrat is a Sims 2 pet. It looks like a guinea pig. But it starves to death in about six hours, as far as I can tell.

  • So here’s something I’ve been wondering: what are you going to do when you get down to Zaphod and Zenobia Alphabetti? Start over again with A’s, or start a new game?
Mighty fine socks you’re got there.
And we’re all waiting with bated breath…

  • Whew. I’m relieved that I’ll still have the Sunday Sims to look forward to on Monday. If I could ever get past the B generation I might actually have to get a notebook to track them too. I did get my first B heir married and preggers yesterday only to have her STARVE TO DEATH in a blink of an eye. None of her sleeping family moved fast enough to bargain.

Can’t wait to find out what is really happening Sunday!

I can’t believe that it is already almost here. I am excited to hear that you will be twittering the day and we will still get Sims Sunday. Everyone wins all around.

Oh guinea pigs are cute and fun.

Anxiously awaiting your weekend exciting event, complete with pictures.
