This year I want to try devoting an entire month to charity knitting. This requires a bit of planning ahead, so I have a general idea of which items to knit. But then I won’t find myself repeatedly under the gun with deadlines, like always happens.

A few of you have expressed interest in doing this, too. Let’s vote on which month! I decided to set aside February, since I have some knitting plans for that month already. And I stopped it at August, because September is when my winter knitting starts in earnest.

Ready? Vote!

  1. Volunteer week is in April, hence the choice of that month, for me at least.

  2. Damn you, woman! I just declared 2010 the Year Of Me, and then you go and do this. But it IS a good idea; I voted for August, but really whatever month you end up choosing will work. Very good idea; it may make it easier for me to devote the rest of the year to mememe.

  3. kmcat, given how many charity items you knit last year, you’d be exempt. You deserve a year of me!

Me, who knows. I haven’t decided my year’s knitting yet. Some upcoming scheduling things need to be figured out first. I would like to make some hats and use up odds and ends. And since I have never been able to knit a hat that fit me, might as well knit a bunch to give away. Maybe I will improve enough so that I can knit one that will fit me, lol.

  4. I just thought April, because it’s likely to be rainy outside but not too cold or hot. Kinda nice weather for relaxing with some good knitting in the evening out on the porch, maybe. It’s also not too far off. I think putting it off until later in the year will make a person resent it coming up, whilst getting it over sooner will make one feel good and able to knit fun things without guilt. I guess March would work for that too.

  5. I picked March for pretty much the same reasons as Jennifer did for April. Still cold enough outside to WANT to drape knitting all over yourself, but the days are longer so more natural light. also, if you have knitting projects for Feb. lined up, if you take a month off, you’ll lose the momentum – just keep going into March (and Feb. is a short month, so really, you could say it was a Feb. start!)

  6. I said April, because March is still chilly enough to be inspired for mememememe kintting(slouchy berets will be mine), but any later in the year risks the “hanging over your noggin phenomen’.”

  8. I picked March because March where I live just goes on too long (New England) and there needs to be some relief from the suckage.

  9. I picked May, which is a month that’s too long. (Too cold up here to garden until June, so May is waiting time.)
And I need March and April for knitting the husband’s birthday sweater. April birthday. Hopefully I won’t need May as well…

  12. April is the cruelest month.

    Let’s change that.

  13. Is April really the cruelest? Dang. It sounds so cheerful.
