Don’t we all need to just sit down with the chickens for a few minutes’ rest? I shot this video because I wanted to capture the hilariously weird crunching sound of chickens pecking at pumpkin meat.

You can’t really hear the crunching, of course. But there’s still plenty of chicken action.

(I’m a little disappointed that no one pooped. Chickens do this hilarious squat when they poop, it’s like a lady in a hoop skirt pulling up her skirts and dropping one. I think it’s funny, anyway.)

  4. Reminds me of an Aquarium/Nature Center we visited on vacay many years ago.
The otter tank had the biggest crowd watching their silly antics. At one point one of the otters walked to the other side of the enclosure, sniffing the ground till he found the right spot, and then started to do this strange dance, head lifted high (& dare I say proudly),lifting one foot & stomping it down then the other, back in forth over & over. It was like some silly little foot-stompin Irish Jig. Everyone in the crowd was oohing & ahhing, many said “what the heck is he doing”… some said “aww, he’s dancing for us”. Hubby & I just looked at eachother & in unison declared, rather smugly (which is odd enough…because is it really something to be proud of? lol) ‘POO-DANCE”.
We have dogs who make a big production of dancing all over the place when they make, so we recognized it right away.
Sure enough, as if on cue, the otter completes the foot-stompin’ dance and poo comes blasting out & the crowds oohs & ahhs instantly become one long eewwwww!
To this day, When one of us is waiting for the bathroom or stuck somewhere without facilities, we say we’re gonna have to start doing the otter dance.
PS; love the chicks! Do you get much snow/freezing temps & do they stay out side all winter or in a barn or something. Im assuming their not coming back in the house, lol

  5. Great story Dani! One of our dogs spins around 40-50 times before he lets loose. We have a little “Pop Goes the Weasel” contest – Mr. Whendi and I will sing the song and whoever sings Pop the closest to the Pop wins.

Our poor neighbors. I’m certain they think we’re crazy. Oh yeah, we are.
