My wrist is healing, although slowly. I can now lift three socks at once with my right hand, without feeling a sharp stab of pain. And I’m learning a lot of new things. For example, did you know that the inside of a banana peel tastes very bad? Astringent. I didn’t know this until yesterday, when I had to open a banana with my teeth.
Unfortunately, my left hand is not getting much better with the mouse. It has the coordination of a four year old. And my left arm is so very tired. So I decided to watch the Sims, instead of playing it. This turned out to be… Pretty boring.
They spend a lot of time sitting around reading or staring into space. (Just like me!)
And they will spend hours on end playing their musical instruments.
Jimmy set the stove on fire again.
And for the most part they stuff their faces with junk food, instead of making proper meals.
But even without my intervention, they manage to feed themselves, clean up after themselves, take showers, take out the trash, and get themselves to the bathroom on time.
Makoto watches the horror movie about cats at least once a day.
He’s quite the animal lover, and has been asking to get a puppy or a kitten for four generations now. So I decided to let them adopt a dog.
This is Buffy, a mutt who seems to be part husky, part yellow lab. Shown here eating lobster thermidor, because I forgot to buy her a dog bowl.
Buffy was already house trained when they bought her.
Although she is a filthy beast, and likes to roll around in the puddles that she creates.
She also likes to chew the furniture, even though I bought her a rubber dog bone.
Then one day not long after they adopted her, she was lying in the path, scratching herself. Next thing I knew, Death had arrived to take her away.
Death threw the stick, and Buffy chased after it, into the bright light in the sky.
I decided that this would be a good time to clean up the family graveyard. I send all graves to the community lot downtown, where they park themselves along the sidewalk until I go over there to move them into place.
Here is a special area I set aside for the founders, Aaron and Alice Alphabetti.
And here are the rest of the Alphabettis.
From left to right we have Conner and Kana, Dean and Britanny, Ernesto, and Frank. As you can see, Ernesto has the special golden gravestone which indicates that he was very happy when he died. You can also see that there is a blank space beside it, where Makoto should go. (Buffy’s gravestone is in the front row.)
I wonder how Makoto feels about having been kept alive for four generations now, in order to do chores.
Speaking of which, here are the urns of everyone who has been eaten by the cow plant, so that Makoto may live. I set up a special mausoleum to collect them.
Don’t tell Makoto about the mausoleum –I think he would find it upsetting.

Is their toilet leaking? Or is he? Do Sims pee pale blue, like Sim dogs apparently do?
The cow-plant victim mausoleum is wonderful. Is it on the family lot?
And last, I thought you kept Makoto alive because you were in love with him, not just to do chores!
P.S. Glad your wrist is improving. By this point, those eggs can probably never repay their debt to you.
Oh how I love Sims Sunday! Thank you for posting, even though you are on the disabled list!
“Being kept alive for four generations just to do chores” – that sounds like an interesting starting point for a novel – kind of like Portrait of Dorian Grey but kind of not.
Ahahaha. Love the mausoleum. The one time I had the cow plant it ate my sim’s love interest, so I gave it up quick. But I may have to have someone advance up the appropriate career path now.
Glad your wrist is getting (slowly) better!
I feel like I’ve been alive for 4 generations, doing chores!
Thanks for playing The Sims – and telling the stories – because I just don’t have time right now.
Yay!! Sims!! Interesting about what they do when you’re not around to manipulate them.
So do you have any plans to let Makoto go to the great oven cleaner in the sky anytime soon? Or is he around forever? LOL!
And can Sims get chickens — or do you deal with that enough in your everyday life?
